Russian officials said five people were killed in Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory, including in the southwestern city of Rostov and the Moscow region; the BBC put the death toll across Russia at seven, citing officials. A warehouse belonging to the Russian online retailer Wildberries was hit, and Ukraine's Kyiv Independent reported strikes on industrial facilities in several cities across the Moscow region. DW noted there was no immediate independent confirmation of the attack's scale.
Russia answered with fresh strikes across Ukraine that killed at least five people and injured more than 10, officials said. Fires broke out in Kyiv, including at a book market, and President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of hitting civilian targets. "Wherever the Russians can reach with their ballistic missiles, they strike civilian infrastructure," he said. Russia said its Kyiv strikes targeted a facility producing parts for Ukrainian Flamingo missiles and a drone-component factory.

Both sides have escalated their air campaigns in recent weeks. Ukraine has intensified long-range strikes deep inside Russia, targeting military and industrial facilities, logistics hubs and warehouses far from the front line in an effort to disrupt military supplies, according to DW and the BBC. The spillover has also reached NATO territory: Romania has repeatedly reported drone debris on its soil since 2023 following Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports along the Danube, and on Friday an Italian Eurofighter under NATO command shot down a foreign drone that entered Latvian airspace.
