Kroenke buys the Angels. Stan Kroenke reached a deal to purchase the Angels from Arte Moreno at a reported MLB-record price, ending Moreno's 23-year ownership and giving Kroenke a sixth pro franchise.
The Associated Press identified the buying entity as Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, the company through which Stan Kroenke's existing holdings, including the Rams and Arsenal, are managed, making baseball the latest addition to a portfolio spanning multiple leagues. KSE announced the agreement itself, and while full financial terms were not detailed, the reported figure would be the highest ever paid for a Major League Baseball franchise.
