Armed man lunges at Ohio candidate Amy Acton

An armed man pushed through a crowd toward Amy Acton, the Democratic candidate for Ohio governor, at the Canfield Fair near Youngstown on Sunday, knocking over multiple fairgoers before he was stopped, authorities said. Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol's executive protection unit intercepted the man, identified as 38-year-old Patrick M. The highway patrol said Havas was found carrying a taser and two pistols and that Acton was unharmed. Acton's campaign said the man lunged at the candidate and injured multiple people. "This kind of violence has no place in Ohio," campaign communications director Addie Bullock said in a statement, adding that Acton and her husband, Eric, were grateful for law enforcement's response and praying for those injured. Havas was turned over to Canfield Fair Police, then to the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office, and booked into the county jail on two counts of assault and one count of disorderly conduct, according to the public safety department. A jail record listed him in pretrial custody.
