Russia launched 68 missiles and 351 strike drones at Kyiv overnight, killing at least 12 people, Ukrainian authorities said Monday. The strike came on the eve of a NATO summit where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to meet U.S. President Donald Trump.

Zelensky said the barrage exposed a critical shortage of interceptor missiles used to defend the capital. He had warned of a likely Russian attack ahead of his meeting with Trump.

Trump reportedly spoke with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelensky in recent days. Ukraine, meanwhile, struck targets inside Russia. The exchanges put financial markets on alert, CNBC reported.
