U.S. marks 9/11 anniversary. Ceremonies in New York, at the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pa., marked 25 years since the attacks. President Trump said the Iran war continues the war on terror.

The attacks killed nearly 3,000 people, according to AP News. Friday's observances included remembrances at all three sites struck in 2001. Trump delivered his remarks at the Pentagon, where he framed the ongoing conflict with Iran as an extension of the counterterrorism campaign that began after the attacks a quarter century ago.
